The Art of Felix Leu
The London Tattoo Convention are honoured to present an exclusive exhibition of artwork by “The Leu Family’s Family Iron” founder Felix Leu. This special exhibition will be the first time Felix's works have ever been displayed at a tattoo convention.
Charismatic and multi-talented, Felix Leu aka Don Feliz was an artist through and through. As an adventurous young man he travelled the world for many years with his wife and lifelong love, Loretta, and their four children.
Tattooing came into his life in 1978 and he excelled in this art for 17 years, during which he brought many artistic innovations to it. Together with Loretta and their eldest son Filip he founded “The Leu Family’s Family Iron”.
Felix created fine art throughout his life, but it was from 1995, when he stopped tattooing due to his health, that he fully devoted himself to painting and drawing.
During the following seven years until his death in 2002 he created over one hundred drawings, some of which are exhibited here. For them he used India ink and a selection of bamboo pens which he made himself.
In these drawings he suggests with his lines and forms whole worlds within which the viewer himself can imagine his own visions. Their meaning is in the mind and eye of the beholder.
Don't miss this opportunity to see the inspiring work of Felix Leu at The London Tattoo Convention, September 27-28-29th.
Loretta Leu will also have copies of her outstanding new book 'Tattooing Ask Here' for sale at the event, detailing the life and art of Felix.
