STOP PRESS: The Groundhogs to headline Main Stage on Saturday
In a major coup, it’s just been announced that legendary British blues rock outfit The Groundhogs will be headlining the Main Stage at the London Tattoo Convention on the Saturday - after more than 50 years in the business.
With their band name inspired by a John Lee Hooker track - fortuitous, as they went on to be the preferred UK support band for the iconic bluesman and even played on an album with him - The Groundhogs burst onto the scene in the 1960s when the blues first exploded across Britain.
They went on to support the likes of The Rolling Stones at the request of Mick Jagger himself, as well as Focus and Wishbone Ash.
Although former frontman Tony McPhee has now retired following a stroke, the line up still features Ken Pustelnik who played with the band in their heyday.
With four top 40 albums under their belt over the course of their dazzling career, The Groundhogs unique blend of psychedelia and blues is as compelling and catchy now as it’s ever been.
After more than 50 years of incendiary live performances, it seems these Groundhogs are still having their day…
