The Quireboys headline Main Stage, Friday 27th September

It’s been 35 years since The Quireboys burst on to the scene, rewarded in 1990 with number two album, A Bit of What You Fancy.

With founding member Spike (real name Jonathan Gray) on vocals and Guy Griffin on guitar, they enjoyed five hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic. Hey You peaked at number 14 in the UK. Supporting Guns N’Roses at the Hammersmith Odeon did them no harm, a Top of The Pops appearance widened the exposure, though playing to 72,000 at the Monsters of Rock in Donington a more natural fit.

It’d be eight years between 1993’s second and third albums but they’ve dished out nine since. The revival is in full swing despite though their latest UK tour almost got cancelled when thousands of pounds of instruments and equipment was nicked last November – with their latest album, Amazing Disgrace, debuting in April.
